Comments Requested on New Look

James Bow here. Northstar has been very supportive and I feel confident enough to roll out the proposed new look for the People’s Republic of Seabrook for comment. As regular readers, I’d like to know what you think. What works? What doesn’t? What should be changed? What of the old look do you miss? I’ve kept the original templates stored elsewhere on this site, so I can go back and get whatever you decide this site needs.

This site boasts MTBlacklist protection (which, incidentally, has stopped 2390 pieces of comment spam in the past three days that the plugin has been operating), the latest Movable Type 3.11 technology, and other comment spam features.

You will notice that you can no longer post comments to Jack’s posts directly; instead, you’ll be taken to a comment preview screen before you can click a “Post” button (comment preview screen still to be worked on; apologies for the look there). This is a feature, adding a two-step process to complicate the lives of comment-spammers just a little bit more. I also hope that you folks will appreciate having a second chance to catch spelling mistakes and grammatical errors — I know I will.

We’ve also removed a fair amount of clutter and made this site XHTML compatable. I already see a remarkable improvement in how quickly Movable Type refreshes the posts, here, so I think we’ve made a few steps forward.

We’re not done yet. There’s still the monthly and category archives to do. However, I’m still interested in hearing what you think, what should be changed, what should be added, and what should be taken away.
