When do we get to talk about today instead of living in the past?

Kerry camp calls new ad ‘junkyard politics’: Swift Boat Veterans rip visits with N. Vietnamese, Viet Cong

It would be nice to think that we could have a civilized, informed debate on the issues that directly impact our country TODAY. Right, and monkeys will fly out of my butt. So much for taking the high road….

The latest Smear Boat Veterans for Truth ad campaign does nothing to focus attention on what their leader, President Bush (and don’t tell me that the control freak Bushies aren’t behind this in some shape, manner, and/or form), and even less to frame the debate on issues that directly effect our country TODAY and IN THE FUTURE. This all seems one large, coordinated attempt to deflect attention from the reality that the Emperor has no clothes.

It’s been said that truth is the first casualty of war. The same could honestly and accurately be said of this political campaign. Come November 2nd, too many Americans will be making their choice based on lies, innuendo, spin, and propaganda. It’s just too bad that George W. Bush and his minions are more concerned about maintaing and consolidating political power than what is best for this country. Yes, power really does corrupt- absolutely.

WE DESERVE BETTER.

Your right northstar, I think it's high time the Kerry camp gave up on the National Guard smear story!

This whole campaign sucks, this entry sucks, and bob's comment sucks.

NOBODY FUCKING CARES. LET IT GO.

Clearly articulate how you plan to reform social security, clearly articulate how your plan to reform the finances of the country, and I will vote for you.

I'm sick and tired of the "left" saying "CAN'T WE FORGET ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED 30 YEARS AGO" while simultaneously trotting out Bush's (lack of?) service. I'm sick and tired of the "right" saying "CAN'T WE FORGET ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED 30 YEARS AGO" while simultaneously trotting out Kerry's (dishonorable?) service.

The truth is that neither candidate wants you to focus on the actual problelms facing the country because neither has any clue about how to fix them. They both just want to win, and it's disgusting. It's like watching the Lions and the Cardinals play: who can keep their head above quicksand for 60 minutes. Fucking disgusting and I'm tired of the whole thing.

Bob, in case you haven't noticed, I am no longer focusing on Bush's National Guard service (or lack thereof, or WHATEVER...). Adam is right.

Can we PLEASE talk about what is important TODAY and in the FUTURE??

northstar, I am now aware that your are no longer focusing on the failed efforts to make W's National Guard service relevant, and out of respect for your sandbox, I'll not mention it again. However, candidate Kerry and the DNC continue to do so. I think that they could benefit from your advice.

Adam, could you clairify something for me? When you say that "this whole campaign sucks" are you referring to the election as a whole, or just candidate Kerry's campaign, or the democrats choice of Kerry as their candidate?
