Happy Anniversary, sweetheart....

It’s a cool, gray, rainy day here in Southeast Texas (for you Guns & Roses fans, almost a “Cold November Rain”?), but it’s a good day nonetheless. Today is our fourth wedding anniversary…and isn’t that the Hummer anniversary (no, the SUV, silly, not the…ah, never mind….)?

For the first time in our life together, Susan actually works at a fixed address. So, for the first time, then, she’s getting flowers on our anniversary. I can say this so early in the day because I know she won’t be reading this until at least tonight. Yes, only in the Internet age would the rest of the world know that my wife is getting flowers for her anniversary before she does. I just hope y’all can keep a secret.

We complain from time to time about the pace of life and the fact that both of us work so hard with seemingly so little to show for it. That whining aside, however, we’re very fortunate; we have a good life, and we know it. We are truly blessed in so many respects.

I may not always be the world’s best husband, but I love my wife, I love my family, and, frustrations with my (not dream) job aside, I love my life. We can pay our bills, there’s food on the table, Adam & Eric are taken care of, and we have each other. What more do we really need? (OK, besides a winning lottery ticket….)

She Who Endures My Myriad Eccentricities has discovered that life with me is not always a straight line. I admire her patience, her longsuffering, and her willingness to overlook the seemingly endless silliness. She must feel sometimes as if she’s raising three boys…one of whom she just happens to be married to.

Happy Anniversary, darling! Thank you for four great years…and here’s to hoping that there are many more in front of us.
