Rick Perry is still Governor?? Who knew??

Perry snubs United Nations Day

It was a conscious decision to not issue the proclamation out of concern over the lack of support the U.N. has shown for United States efforts to bring freedom and democracy to the world.

  • Kathy Walt, spokesperson for Governor Goodhair

Man, and all this time I’d been thinking that Governor Goodhair was holed up in some secret, secure location…like Tora Bora, perhaps. It had been so long since our alleged Guvner had said or done anything in public that I’d been wondering if Florida picked him up on waivers.

Of course, UN-bashing is a surefire way to show your base in this state that you haven’t given in to those lavender-scented One World pussies who would turn our security and sovereignty over to Kofi Annan and his cabal. Thank GOD we have a strong, non-Liberal non-pussy in the Governor’s mansion to protect us from…uh, what IS it that Governor Goodhair does, exactly?

AUSTIN - Republican Gov. Rick Perry refused to honor United Nations Day, even as President Bush signed a U.N. proclamation, because doing so would be inconsistent with the governor’s views, his spokeswoman said.

In his proclamation, Bush had urged governors to “honor the observance of United Nations Day,” which was celebrated Sunday around the world to commemorate the date the organization was founded in 1945….

The president of the Texas division of the United Nations Association called Perry’s decision an embarrassment to the state and a slap at an organization that is focused on eliminating unequal treatment of women around the world, the Dallas Morning News reported Thursday.

“We’re very disappointed and embarrassed that the governor would do something like this,” said Beth Weems Pirtle. “Rick Perry is trying to make the United Nations a political football, and it’s not a political football. It is a nonpartisan organization that helps people all over the world.”

The Republican Party of Texas has long been hostile to the United Nations.

Hell, the Republican Party of Texas is hostile to EVERYTHING. I can’t imagine why this should come as a shock to anyone. Left to their own devices, the Texas GOP would probably secede from the Union and build a Gaza Strip-style wall along the entire border. Rick Perry is beloved by this collection of trolls, probably because he doesn’t actually DO anything.

Of course, by snubbing the UN, Governor Goodhair can look as if he is standing up to the lavender-scented homosexual One-World types that run the UN without actually doing anything more active than losing his pen. It’s a brilliant political strategy that fits in perfectly with Perry’s slothful style as Governor- doing nothing doubling as a political statement. Now he can go back to his secure, undisclosed location and smile the smile of a leader.

UN OUT OF HARRIS COUNTY!!!
