Not a good ad. Who exactly is the "they" in this ad? The only guilty group mentioned is "Republicans". But as I recall, Democrats ordered most of the 1960s firehosings. Oops.
Mentioning "Republicans" was utterly unnecessary to the ad's point and just the sort of sleight-of-pronoun misdirection on which Fox et al are so fond of basing their falsifications. Not good.
What a wonderful way to have "America Coming Together" by publishing this divisive and blatantly false garbage. Gotta love that classic liberal tolerance. Those crazy cookie-cutter liberals have taken over the Democratic party.
False. No one has taken over or ever could "take over" the Democratic Party. It will never be that organized. The ad isn't even from the Democratic Party.
Further, it's silly to claim that such an ad is divisive. Worrying about dividing America is like worrying about running up history's largest budget deficit. Bush's drooling has already arranged both, so pointing at this ad is a little late. Kerry's dogged conservatism (from my point of view) isn't helping.
DEMOCRAT lawyers hired by DEMOCRAT politicians who order them to file lawsuits to point of frivolity to shore up their not ready for prime time candidate.
But more on topic, this bit of misinformation and deceit was thrusted upon masses in Missouri by the 527 org known as "America Coming Together."
America Coming Together is a 527 committee dedicated to get-out-the-vote activities for Democratic candidates, particularly in 2004. It is primarily funded by Peter Lewis, George Soros, and labor unions, and is led by Steve Rosenthal, who formerly worked for the AFL-CIO.
Sound's pretty organized to me... It also sounds like a group that does not hesitate to publish and distribute total BS when they think it might help get John Kerry into the White House.
Clearly, "America Coming Together" pulled a Dan Rather on TPRS.
You mischaracterize. They were "Southern Democrats" which we all know are not the same as todays "Democrats". Coming from the south, I can tell you right now that Southern Democrats and Republicans were virtually indistinguishable.

Gee, I'm soooo scared of being DRAFTED, I didn't even notice!

DEMOCRAT firefighters hired by DEMOCRAT politicians who ordered them to hose those who were demanding their rights.
The same mindset exists inthat party today.
I see Greg's point... In todays terms:
