Sometimes, you really can make a difference

One of the truly amazing things about maintaining a weblog is the ability to touch people you will never meet in ways you never imagined were possible. Take this comment on my post about Victoria Snelgrove:

Torie was one of my best friends. Thank you for your article. We’re obviously all heart broken and don’t know where to go from here. As we prepare to bury our friend, daughter, sister, aunt (and the list goes on) it helps to have the support and prayers of this country. Thank you.

Of course, I will likely never meet Nicole…hell, I’ve never even been to Boston. Even so, just knowing that I could, even if for only a fleeting moment or two, comfort someone in their time of grief and loss…well, that’s one thing that makes all of this worthwhile.
