Happy Football...er, Turkey Day, y'all!!

Today looks like it’s going to be a good day to be thankful. Here in The People’s Republic of Seabrook, it’s a beautiful, sunny day, albeit a little bit on the chilly side. Unlike a good part of the Midwest, there is no snow on the ground, nor is there likely to be. My magic palm tree is an effective snow repellent.

Like many folks, I find myself thinking about all of the things I have to be thankful for. In many, many ways, I am truly blessed, though the pace of life sometimes takes my focus away from that. Today, then, I want to focus on all of the ways I have been blessed. What better way to do that to make a list?

I am thankful for…

  • …having a job that helps to support my family. I may not always be enamored of it, but it does feed the bulldog and allows me to feel as if I’m contributing. It certainly beats the alternative.

  • …having a roof over my head and a home to return to every night. There was a time in my life when that was no certainty. This is infinitely preferable.

  • …having a wife who adores me, even though I may not always be the world’s best husband. I couldn’t ask for a stronger, more devoted, or more supportive partner to grow old with than Susan. The best is yet to come.

  • …having the two best stepsons imaginable. Even through all of the normal teenage/college student angst, both Adam and Eric have accepted me as a member of the family and made me feel welcome. My only regret is that they are not my own offspring. Even so, I am a better person for having both of them in my life.

  • …for having the world’s best dog. No other dog even comes close to Salem.

  • …for having the world’s most psychotic cat. If Sakowitz were human, she would be a psychokiller, leaving trails of bodies in her wake. She is nothing if not entertaining…though I would recommend keeping your distance.

  • …for James Bow, who volunteered for the not-insignificant task of redesigning TPRS into something I can actually be proud of. I’ve tried not to mess with it too much, because he did such a bang-up job of saving my non-techie @$$. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU….

  • …for all of you who stop by my dusty little corner of da Interweb. Through my 3+ years of manning the helm, I’ve come into contact with people I never otherwise would have been exposed to. Y’all may not always agree with what I have to say, but that’s the beauty of it for me. I love the give and take- and every now and then I manage to learn something. Surprisingly, I really DON’T have all the answers.

Enjoy your holiday. Be safe and happy, and pray for the Cowboys to lose. THAT will make an already good day that much better! Thank you for being a part of my life and my experience.
