OK, so for those of you who live in Toronto, Milwaukee, or Yellowknife, this might not seem like a big deal. Remember, though, that this is the Texas Gulf Coast we’re talking about…and snow is a VERY big deal here, if only because it is such a rare event. I’ve lived here for 7+ years, and it hasn’t snowed here in that time. Could we have a white Christmas?
While those of you north of the Mason-Dixon line are probably contemplating the need to shovel your driveway again, people here in south Texas are trying to remember what snow is. No, it doesn’t involve a rolled-up $100 bill, a mirror, and some Bolivian marching powder….
Having grown up two hours south of the Canadian border, I’m rather excited about even the possibility of snow (however remote). Mostly I just want to watch the natives try to drive in it.
It’s supposed to be a real weenie-shrinker tonight, with lows down into the 20s along the Gulf Coast. Again, that may not seem like any big deal to those of you who live closer to Canada than Mexico, but here it is perceived as the dawn of the New Ice Age. In these parts, ice is something you find in a margarita, not on your driveway. The closest thing I have to a shovel is my laptop….
