Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Police: Woman threw sex parties for teenagers (Thanks to Christopher Schroen!)

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #183: Sylvia Johnson

Hmm…sounds like someone must have slept through those parenting classes, eh?

There are many things a parent is responsible for: teaching their children right from wrong, helping to educate them, preparing them for the decisions they will have to make as the approach and enter adulthood. Being liked by your children, while certainly a good thing, is nowhere on that list, particularly if being liked by your children and their friends involves contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

ARVADA, Colorado (AP) — A 40-year-old woman held sex and drug parties with teenage boys, telling police she wanted to be a “cool mom,” authorities say.

Sylvia Johnson allegedly provided marijuana, methamphetamine and alcohol to eight boys at parties held at her suburban Denver home in 2003 and 2004. According to court papers, she admitted having sex with five of the boys.

One of the boys told his mother, and Johnson was arrested in December and charged with offenses including sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to court papers, Johnson told investigators she was not popular in high school and had finally started “feeling like one of the group.”

“She described herself as a ‘cool mom,’” police said.

As a parent, the question of boundaries and appropriate behavior is never far from the surface. By the example you set for your children, they should be able to learn that lesson without too much difficulty. Of course, when you are the one supplying the drugs, alcohol, and sex to your children and their friends, I think it can safely be said that you have some serious boundary issues. And you’d be a DUMB@$$ like Ms. Johnson, of whom I think it can safely be said, will NOT be on this year’s “Mother of the Year” ballot.

I’ve asked the question before, and I’ll undoubtedly ask it again….why must one have a license to hunt, fish, drive a car, or own a business, but any morally deficient, judgementally impaired dickweed with functional plumbing can become a parent? It’s an obvious question to ask when one runs across this sort of story. I just wish there were an easy answer; perhaps then we’d be able to save a few children from this sort of criminally negligent parenting.
