Actually, I’m rather disappointed that US Customs detained Mr. DUMB@$$- er, Mihsen. His “mission” might actually have proved to be somewhat entertaining. One lone wackjob against Osama bin-Laden’s minions AND uranium smugglers? Does anyone seriously think that Mihsen would have lasted more than, oh, I don’t know…perhaps a day or two? It does sound as if someone has spend a bit too long wading in the shallow end of the gene pool, eh?
A Texas man is in federal custody after telling agents at Detroit Metro Airport that he was on his way to Syria to try to claim the $25-million bounty on Osama bin Laden.
A federal criminal complaint said Matt Mihsen, 47, of Ft. Worth boarded a Northwest flight in Dallas on Tuesday en route to Detroit, the Netherlands and Syria. Mihsen, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Syria, was questioned in Detroit by Customs and Border Protection officers.
After denying carrying a large sum of cash, agents checked him and found $13,756, according to a court affidavit filed by Cory Howe, a Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Agents checked Mihsen’s luggage and found a stun gun, 40 rounds of ammunition, pepper spray, a bulletproof vest and three Geiger counters, the affidavit said.
Mihsen told agents he is vice president and security specialist for Alleges Protective Services Inc. and was on his way to the Middle East to investigate the illegal sale of uranium by extremists. He said he was hoping to collect the $25 million FBI bounty for information leading to the arrest and conviction of bin Laden.
Mihsen said he planned to use the equipment to lure uranium smugglers in Syria.
Now, I don’t know what uranium goes for on the black market these days, but I’m thinking that $13,000 and change isn’t going to go very far. So what in the Hell WAS Mihsen thinking? Or are we leaping to conclusions in assuming that there was some sort of honest-to-God thought process taking place here?
If US Special Forces and the Pakistani Army haven’t been able to come up with bin-Laden yet, are we to believe that Mihsen honestly thought that he was going to waltz into Waziristan undetected and miraculously collar America’s #1 bogeyman- AND come out alive? Yep, we done got us a DUMB@$$ here….
