And it couldn't have happened to a nicer demagogue, Chapter 15

DeLay’s travel expenses lead to nonprofit, lobbyist: Some question denial of knowing who paid the credit-card bills

We already know that Tom DeLay is corrupt. We already know that he has a long history of situational ethics. We also know that DeLay is not above getting the rules of the game changed to protect himself. So, is yet another revelation of DeLay’s corruption and willingness to skirt the ethical and legal rules every other Congressman is required to live by even newsworthy any more?

When you occupy a position of power, when you have power and wealthy friends, and when you are willing to do whatever it takes to maintain power- no matter how craven or nakedly beyond the pale, it’s going to take time to bring you down. Remember, empires don’t crumble from frontal assaults. They’re chipped away at gradually by repeated blows from rubber mallets.

Of course, in George W. Bush’s America, Tom DeLay, while a miserable excuse for a public servant, is merely only the most egregious example of how the People’s business is attended to. The truly sad thing is that almost 60% of the people in my district voted for Tom DeLay. It’s hard to believe that so many people could be so undemanding and so brain-dead. TIME TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CAT LITTER, Y’ALL….

It’s time to go, Tom. WE DESERVE BETTER.
