So why couldn't y'all have figured this out prior to Election Day?

Gallup: 50% of Americans Now Say Bush Deliberately Misled Them on WMDs

If the American electorate had an unofficial motto, it would be “DUHHHH!!!” If at least a portion of the 51% of you who were so undemanding as to vote for George W. Bush had bothered to pay attention, we wouldn’t be in this vote. Of course, I’m not going to in all seriousness say that John Kerry was a terrific alternative, but do we deserve a President whose lies have cost almost 1600 American soldiers their lives? Apparently so.

Of course, being Republican means never having to say you’re sorry, so Bush can wax philosphical about making the world safe for democracy or protecting our freedoms or fighting terrorism. None of these things are correct. Nothing being done in Iraq is protecting democracy, nor does it protect our freedom. As far as fighting terrorism goes, given that there was no terrorist threat in Iraq UNTIL WE CREATED ONE, what do you think?

Half of all Americans, exactly 50%, now say the Bush administration deliberately misled Americans about whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, the Gallup Organization reported this morning.

“This is the highest percentage that Gallup has found on this measure since the question was first asked in late May 2003,” the pollsters observed. “At that time, 31% said the administration deliberately misled Americans. This sentiment has gradually increased over time, to 39% in July 2003, 43% in January/February 2004, and 47% in October 2004.”

No problemo…Bush can’t stand for re-election, so who is he going to answer to?

The problem here, of course, is that Bush and his minions are disciples of Josef Goebbels’ “Big Lie” theory- because it works for them. Repeat something often enough, and with enough conviction, and it will eventually become the truth. No wonder a majority of Americans still believe that Saddam Hussein was at least partially responsible for 9.11. Yes, we are an ignorant, undemanding, reactionary lot- and we have EXACTLY the quality of leadership a nation of dolts deserve.

I think we'd be better off making a smoking hole out of the GOP than out of Iran. Fortunately, Tom DeLay is just the punk to light the fireworks.

And it couldn't have happened to a nicer demagogue, Chapter 19 is the next entry in this blog.
