Here in Texas, mediocrity is it's own reward- and it'll get you elected Governor

Gov. Perry caught in embarrassing faux pas with open microphone

OK, I’ve tried to be polite about this, but there is no getting around the reality of it anymore: Governor Rick Perry is a complete, total, confirmed DUMB@$$. The alleged Governor of the Great State of Texas (Just what DOES the man do, anyway? And in what secure, undisclosed location does he do it??) appears to have the common sense and self-control of, oh, I don’t know…Rush Limbaugh? What a freakin’ moron….

No one expects Rick Perry to be comfortable with the press, or even to like them. Nonetheless, these folks are merely trying to do their jobs. Would it be too much to at least treat them with a bare minimum of decency? Or does he really think it acceptable to treat reporters in such an offhanded, disrespectful manner.

Uh, Governor? Does your mother know you talk like that…or is she the one who taught you??

Granted, in the overall scheme of things, Perry’s comment was not as bad as say, questioning whether or not gays should be living in Texas (which he’s done, and recently at that). Nonetheless, we should be able to expect our elected leaders to have at least a modicum of self-control and the ability to control their frustration. (This is why I am not Governor, I suppose. That, and the fact my write-in campaign just barely got into double-digit votes.)

Frankly, I’m looking forward to watching Carole Keeton Strayhorn fillet Governor Goodhair during next year’s Republican primary campaign. I’m not exactly a big fan of Strayhorn, but she should easily mop the floor with Perry, and I imagine it will prove quite entertaining. ANYTHING would be an improvement over the non-entity currently inhabiting the Governor’s Mansion. How sad is it when even I am missing George W. Bush’s presence in Austin? At least Dubya never misunderstimated the power of being a decent human being. And while Dubya as Governor was never confused for a great thinker, at least he wasn’t the clueless, mean-spirited mental midget that Governor Goodhair consistently proves himself to be.

Let's not forget this gem from 2000:
(thanks to http://www.tmra2.org/webblog/2004_08_01_arc.html)

...The July stop happened four years after Perry was a passenger in a car stopped on U.S. 290 near Dripping Springs. The driver, a Perry aide, was given a warning for allegedly driving 75 mph in a 55-mph zone.
According to a DPS video of the June 2000 stop, Perry told the officer writing the warning: "Why don't you just let us get down the road?"
