A sign from God that you perhaps have too damn much money?

Pujols’ locker goes for more than $21,000

I realize that St. Louis Cardinals fans are some of the most committed fans in Major League Baseball. They’ve supported their teams through the good, the bad, and the ugly, and now that the Cardinals are about to open a new stadium, Cardinals fans are snapping up souvenirs from Busch Stadium as quickly as they possibly can. Some of it’s getting to be rather silly, though:

  • Foul pole: $4,347

  • Bullpen phone: $2,174

  • Bullpen urinal: $2,174

  • Items from Manager Tony LaRussa’s office: $7,002

  • Jim Edmonds’ locker: $12,730

  • Albert Pujols’ locker: $21,503

  • Home plate from the final game against Houston: $16,762

  • Giving thanks that I’m not a Cardinals fan: priceless

Of course, if this is all too rich for your blood…or if common sense simply takes hold of your checking account, and if you can hold out until this weekend, you’ll be able to buy vials of Busch Stadium infield dirt for the low, low price of $5.00. Perhaps if fans are fortunate, they’ll also be able to pick up a vial of Ganges River holy water or Napoleon Bonaparte’s embalmed penis. Me? I’m just glad I’m not a Cardinals fan.
