O’Reilly Blasted for Coit Tower Comments
If al-Qaida comes in here and blows you up, we’re not going to do anything about it. We’re going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.

Coit Tower’s a monument to San Francisco’s firefighters. They put out the fires in San Francisco after the great quake. American heroes — they were there on Sept. 11 and now you want al-Qaida to blow up Coit Tower? Give us a break. You are out of line.

I am constantly amazes at how stupid, mean-spirited, self-absorbed people manage to score gigs in which they can spread their ignorance and stupidity to the four corners of the Earth- and be worshipped by people significantly more stupid than themselves. A case in point is perennial DUMB@$$ Bill O’Reilly, whose self-proclaimed “No Spin Zone” is first and foremost about self-promotion, but really is little more than pure frothing-at-the-mouth pontificating by the aggressively stupid for the merely passively stupid.
To say that Bill O’Reilly is an acquired taste is akin to saying that autoeroticism is merely a form of self-expression. What do you get when you combine self-importance, self-righteousness, a disregard for the truth, and a severe case of narcissicism? You get a gig on Fox News and carte blanche to promote yourself as the voice of reason and defender of the People. To call Bill O’Reilly a DUMB@$$ would be to severely under-credit him for his ability to insult, malign, and demean those who happen to find themselves caught in his short hairs cross-hairs.
It’s on thing to be a DUMB@$$. It’s quite another to continue to demonstrate your worthiness of the (dis)honor on a daily basis. And it’s yet another to base your career on being a DUMB@$$. Man, I oughta just retire the award here and now, eh?
