Bush Urges Reglious Freedom: President pushes agenda to Chinese leaders

We’ve made it clear to them…that they should give the Chinese people an opportunity to hear everything the president has to say on U.S.-China relations…. It’s also important that the world see and the Chinese people see that an expression of faith is a good thing for a healthy and mature society.

  • Mike Green, National Security Council’s senior director for Asian affairs

In a stunning display of hubris and chutzpah, Our Glorious Leader, who clearly sees himself as a shining beacon of freedom and democracy, is now determined to make Communist China safe for Evangelical Christians. Never mind the fact that there are a few other more pressing issues that could reasonably be addressed with the Chinese leadership- prison labor, freedom of speech and expression, political repression, just to name a few- Our Sainted President is determined to make China friendly to those who would spread the Gospel to the unwashed masses..

If Our Glorious Leader is to hold up America as the Shining City on the Hill, the world’s beacon of freedom and democracy, it would stand to reason that his Administration wouldn’t be attempting to force American-style democracy on the rest of the world, more and more of whom are coming to see this country as the Great Satan.

Shouldn’t we be getting our own house in order before we force American-style “democracy” on the rest of the world?

BEIJING (AP) — President Bush was greeted in China with good news about trade and is making a point about religious freedom in this communist nation by attending church services before meeting top leaders.

Bush hoped to send a visible message about human rights across this land of 1.3 billion people by worshipping on Sunday at the Gangwashi Church, one of five officially recognized Protestant churches in Beijing. The State Department cited China this month as one of eight countries of “particular concern” for denying religious freedom.

The White House urged China’s state-controlled media not to censor news of Bush’s visit.

Huh? Censorship? Spinning? Propaganda? Nah, that’s the purview of the White House staff. Perhaps if the Chinese just stuck to the one thing they’re really good at- repressing the populace- Our Glorious Leader could fly home and call his visit a success.

I understand that a President must attend to foreign affairs. After all, as the leader’s of the world’s only remaining superpower, he’s charged with being the keeper of this nation’s image around the world. Uh…have any of y’all noticed that we’re almost universally HATED around the world? Perhaps it might be time for Our Glorious Leader to clean up his own back yard and figure out a way to get out of Vietnam Iraq before the few countries that still support American policy turn against us? Or is he now also the Proselytizer in Chief?
