Inept and built to stay that way

Colts pound woeful Texans to stay unbeaten

When I was a student at Macalester College, our football team was in the process of setting an NCAA all-division record for most consecutive losses- 54 straight games of brutal, frustrating futility (the record was, thankfully, later broken by Prairie View A&M, and now stands at 88). I went through four years without ever seeing Macalester win. Things got so bad that it became less a question of who would win than what the point spread would be. If we were playing Hamline, St. Thomas, or St. John’s, expecting a spread of anymore from 50-70 points was not unreasonable. Giving up 70+ points while being shut out was not at all unusual.

At home games, we’d sit in the stands a few rows behind the school president, drinking Jack Daniels until we no longer even cared who won. This is probably a whole lot like what being a Texans fan must feel like these days. At 1-8, about all Houston really has to look forward to is the #1 pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. (Matt Leinart, please pick up the white paging phone….)

I have to confess that I didn’t even watch the Texans yesterday. I was more interested in the Vikings-Giants game, and then She Who Endures My Myriad Eccentricities called me from the Nutcracker Market at Reliant Center. Before I knew what had happened, I was buying Christmas presents on a football Sunday afternoon. Hey, at least my Vikings won, but if you sat through the Texans-Colts game…well, you have my condolences. What a colossal waste of a beautiful Sunday afternoon, eh? Hmm…anyone want to lay bets on how long it will take Bob McNair to fire Dom Capers and his staff once the Texans’ season mercifully ends?

Just another sorry example of the insidious homosexual agenda was the previous entry in this blog.

It's time to begin holding people accountable is the next entry in this blog.
