Aggie charged in manure incident at UT game
We look dimly on any student treating a guest of the university in such a manner that’s inconsistent with Aggie values.
- David Parrott, Texas A&M dean of student life
Yep, there’s nothing like a good old-fashioned rivalry to create a boatload of excitement and create a DUMB@$$ or six. The annual Texas- Texas A&M football fame is generally good for a few yuks, and you can pretty much expect that somewhere along the way, someone is going to go where angels fear to tread and earn themselves a DUMB@$$ AWARD. This year was certainly no different, although this years DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener certainly went the extra mile…by throwing horse manure at the UT Marching Band at Kyle Field last Friday. Ah, the folly of youth….
BRYAN — A member of the Texas A&M University Parsons Mounted Cavalry accused of throwing horse manure at University of Texas band members before their annual football game has been charged with criminal mischief.
A lieutenant from the A&M university police said he saw John Richmond Sullivan, 20, throw a shovel full of horse feces at the opposing team’s band members at Kyle Field, according to an affidavit.
The incident came before kickoff of the annual game between No. 2 Texas and Texas A&M. Texas beat their archrivals 40-29.
Sullivan was arrested and released from the Brazos County Jail after posting $2,000 bail.
UT band director Robert Carnochan told police that he and the band members didn’t want to press charges, but did want Texas A&M to discipline Sullivan….
Hmm…could this be the Aggie version of a drive-by shooting?
Methinks that somehow a DUMB@$$ AWARD and some good, old fashioned public ridicule may well be adequate as punishment. Of course, if it isn’t, there’s plenty of manure at A&M; I’m sure the Aggies could come up with a fitting punishement.
