This certainly sums up 2005 as a whole, doesn't it?

Horse Sex Story Tops ‘Seattle Times’ Most Popular List for 2005 - But Here’s Why

Man Pleads Guilty in Horse-Sex Case

As I look back at the year in news, it’s clear I should have focused more on people having sex with horses. It’s not a survey of what news you say you read. It’s what you actually read…. I don’t know whether to ignore this alarming factoid or to embrace it. Or, maybe, some of us are not giving readers enough of what you really want.

  • Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat

You know that it’s been one thoroughly f——d up year when the most popular story of the year in the Seattle Times had to do with a man shtupping a horse, and suffering fatal internal injuries for his trouble. In fact, this story may well have been the most popular and widely-read in the Times 109-year history. I’m not at all certain what this says about readers of the Times, or about people in Seattle generally…and frankly, I’m not sure I want to know.

Those of you worried about your teenaged daughters might be better served worrying about your horses….

Oy….
