Austin, TX: this morning's hangover capitol of the US

Austin Power

Forever Young!

Texas-sized upset

PERFECT 10: MVP Young delivers

Texas tastes title on Young’s TD in final minute

OK, how many of you went to bed with five minutes left and Texas down by 12? Even She Who Endures My Myriad Eccentricities gave up and went to bed…she has a Master’s degree from UT. Man, you couldn’t even wait for five more minutes? Don’t you remember what happened in the 2005 Rose Bowl against Michigan?? Apparently not. Well, then, for those of you who couldn’t wait up, all I have to say is…thank God for SportsCenter, eh?? (Of course, you can also download the video to your iPod this morning…man, we LOVE technology, don’t we??)

It was a game of ebb and flow, and after UT’s disastrous first quarter, it quickly became clear that this game wasn’t going to be decided until almost the last minute. Even with five minutes left, and UT down 38-26, I kept thinking about what happened in last year’s Rose Bowl, when UT beat Michigan as time ran out. I wanted to go to bed, but I knew that if something happened, I’d feel like an idiot in the morning. I really ought to trust my intuition more often, eh? ;p)

When I finally did decide to go to bed, I took Judge outside so he could pee in the front yard. It was close to midnight, but here in this quiet little burg I could hear people screaming. Now there’s something you don’t hear very often ‘round here on a week night, eh? Of course, it probably won’t be too difficult to pick out the UT grads in my office this morning. They’ll be the ones with the headaches, the bags under their eyes, and the ear-to-ear grin.

PS - Vince Young will never have to pay for another meal in Austin as long as he lives….
