Liberty isn't blown up all at once; it's nibbled to death by ducks

Gonzales defends wiretaps amid protest: Congress understood scope of program, attorney general says

You know, it’s amazing that people say to me, ‘Well, he was just breaking the law.’ If I wanted to break the law, why was I briefing Congress? I’m mindful of your civil liberties, and so I had all kinds of lawyers review the process. We briefed members of the United States Congress.

  • Our Glorious Leader

Ah, so now begins the propaganda campaign, the one designed to convince the American sheeple that giving up their civil liberties bit by bit is the best and surest way to protect their security.

The sad reality is that, no matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, in the final analysis you still have a pig on your hands. BushCo knows that they have a major PR clusterf—k on their hands, and they’re going to spare no effort or expense to frame the argument in a manner that reflect favorably on them. Get ready for BushCo to employ the same Big Lie offensive that has served them so well since the stole the 2000 election. They will keep faithfully pounding the same talking points until the American Sheeple finally give in and believe the propaganda, because, frankly, Americans don’t want to think. They want to believe. As long as Our Glorious Leader and his minions keep hammering these talking points, Americans will eventually come over to their way of thinking.

Slowly but surely, our civil liberties are being eroded…and we have only ourselves to blame. Ben Franklin was right- those who would sacrifice an essential liberty for temporary security deserve neither liberty nor security. And most Americans just don’t give a damn….
