COPENHAGEN, Feb. 9 — Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen of Denmark said Thursday that the governments of Iran and Syria had intentionally inflamed Muslim protests against a Danish newspaper’s publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad to distract attention from their own diplomatic crises.
Hmm…what’s a despotic, bankrupt, repressive Third World regime to do? When you can’t provide for the basic needs of your people, the best possible scenario is to find something that allows you to channel the discontent someplace safe. A bogeyman, whether real or imaginary is just the ticket. The Cartoon Jihad is exactly what any despotic Muslim regime could hope for. Yep, your countryman will be so busy looting, burning, and killing that they won’t have time to even THINK about examining their own miserable existence.
What amazes me is that the media is still referring to the Cartoon Jihad as “demonstrations”. Let’s get something straight here, shall we? If you stage a peaceful march or protest, you can qualify that as a “demonstration”. If you’re burning, looting, and/or destroying, what you have is a “riot”, and that makes you a common criminal, a thug with an anger managment problem and some serious boundary issues.
I can understand Muslims being offended by depictions of the Prophet Muhammad. I get that. By their belief system, they are justified in their anger. I’m not buying it completely, but like I said, I can understand their point of view. What I do not understand, and refuse to countenance, is the idea that the Cartoon Jihad is the legitimate expression of Muslim anger and dismay.
If your idea of protest is to kill, burn, and destroy, you have no right to expect any reasonable person to take you seriously. In fact, any reasonable person would pass you off as an ignorant, intolerant zealot…and they’d be spot on.
If you want to be treated with the respect you think you deserve, act like you deserve it. Carry yourself with dignity and deal with the world around you like an adult who respects the person and property of others. And when your government works to deflect your attention and fan the flames of your anger, remember that it takes two to play the propaganda game. If you allow yourself to be whipped into a frenzy of righteous, destructive anger, you deserve to be treated like the fool and thug you are.
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CAT LITTER, willya? Cartoons are not your problem- YOU and your own indiscriminate anger are the problem. Until and unless you can deal with your anger and rage like a mature adult, you cannot expect, nor do you deserve, to be taken seriously. Get over yourself….
