Red Sox affiliate offers youth jersey to drop Yankees
The Lowell Spinners say if Little League and other youth leagues agree to change the name of their Yankees teams to the Spinners, they’ll pay for the new uniforms…. Spinners’ general manager Tim Bawmann says children in New England are often devastated when they are assigned to be on a team called the Yankees.
You know, if the worst aspect of your childhood is that you were forced to play on a Little League team called the “Yankees”…well, you just saved yourself thousands of dollars in therapy, haven’t you? Then again, can you blame a kid for not wanting to be associated with George Steinbrenner’s Evil Empire in any shape, manner, or form?
