Bueller?...Bueller?

The Democratic Rapid Response Team

A Senate Maverick Acts to Force an Issue: Democrat Feingold’s Motion to Censure the President Roils Both Parties

Bad instincts

The reaction from Feingold’s colleagues

Cue Republican Whining and Posturing on Feingold

I’m amazed at Democrats, cowering with this president’s numbers so low. The administration just has to raise the specter of the war and the Democrats run and hide…. Too many Democrats are going to do the same thing they did in 2000 and 2004. In the face of this, they’ll say we’d better just focus on domestic issues…. [Democrats shouldn’t] cower to the argument, that whatever you do, if you question the administration, you’re helping the terrorists.

  • Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI)

Jeepers, you’ think that Democrats would be lining up to pat Russ Feingold on the back. Finally, SOMEONE has displayed a working set of cojones, and all they have to do is simply jump on the bandwagon, eh? Not so fast, y’all…and hold off on that whole bandwagon thing. Apparently, some Democrats are upset that Feingold didn’t funnel his intended censure resolution through the “proper channels”.

Say what??

Yes, it’s clear that Feingold didn’t consult with the party, but given the complete lack of moral courage and imagination demonstrated by Congressional Democrats, can you blame him? The Democratic leadership is so enamored of their “go along to get along philosophy” that they’ve lost any sense of outrage. A true opposition party would have pitched a fit when it was discovered that WMDs were figments of Administration propaganda. A true opposition party would have rioted in the wake of the revelation of Our Glorious Leader’s warrantless wiretapping program. A true opposition party would have long ago demanded something resembling accountability. After all, Democrats join in the pummelling when Bill Clinton was impeached for getting his helmet polished by a zaftig intern. You’d think they’d be able to muster a degree of outrage over the lies and propaganda that have resulted in more than 2300 dead American soldiers.

And where were Democrats when the (you had to know this would be coming) predictable Republican invocation that dissent is terrorism was loosed on the American sheeple?

According to Progress Now, Senator Wayne ‘Whiny’ Allard, Republican of Colorado, accused Feingold of ‘siding with terrorists’ by introducing his censure resolution.

Good God, people. Grow some balls, willya? How many Democrats were wholeheartedly supportive of impeaching Bill Clinton for his extramarital activities in the Oval Office? And yet these same moral policeman are perfectly willing to give Our Glorious Leader a free pass for lying his way into an immoral, pointless, and bloody war of occupation in Iraq?

Given this environment, can you blame Feingold for not running his censure resolution past the Senate Democratic leadership? Given that Republicans have a lien on Harry Reid’s cojones and moral fiber, Feingold clearly knew that his resolution would be neutrered beyond recognition by the time the Democratic leadership ever let it see the light of day.

Democrats should be jumping for joy in celebration of the reality that SOMEONE in the Loyal “Opposition” is willing to take on the President and demand that he be held accountable. Instead, they’re deploring Feingold for not “following proper procedures”.

And you wonder why we’re the minority party? Here’s your sign….
