Bill Kristol: U.S. not seriously fighting war in Iraq

Bush on civil war: “It will not happen on my watch”

Yes, in the never-ending Republican game of spin-o-rama, in which the act of making lemonade out of lemons is for mere amateurs, these loons are world-class. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of Iraqis are dying in what can only charitably be called a very un-civil war (And what, really, is civil about war to begin with?), and these misfits are debating how a civil war in Iraq can be a GOOD thing?

Of course, if you happen to work for Halliburton or Bechtel, you might just be forgiven for thinking that business is good and about to get much better. We’re in the business of manufacturing death, and business is GOOD. If your business happens to be coffins, you’re probably beside yourself, because people are dying to do business with you. Yessirree, it’s all about taking advantage of the opportunities that present themselves, eh? It’s the American Way, no?
