There are few things more detestable than an impotent, frustrated group of pencil dicks convinced that all of their myriad problems have to do with the “reality” that the White race is oppressed by some nefarious entity called the Zionist Occupation Government (ZOG). Perhaps the true reality is that these dateless, horribly misguided racial terrorists have allowed their hatred and ignorance to overshadow what little remains of their humanity. What else could be said about a sad collection of trolls that refers to itself as the National Socialist Movement Northwest (Google it yourself…I’m not about to reward these freaks with a link)…and yes, that’s National Socialist as in Nazi, as in Hitler, Himmler, Goering, Goebbel, etc. You remember them, don’t you? They were the ones who killed 6 million Jews in the name of Aryan purity? And this sorry collection of pencil dicks holds these monsters up as role models?
Following the recent outbreak of neo-Nazism in my own neighborhood, I’ve become even more acutely aware of the silent tide of white supremacism that’s creeping back into our lives, if that’s possible.
It’s one thing when it happens elsewhere, as I usually find myself documenting. But having it in your own back yard drives home the reality in a particularly pungent fashion.
And it does continue to manifest elsewhere too, in nearly identical fashion: Until they unfurl their flags and don their costumes, today’s white supremacists dress, talk, and comport themselves like normal people. They present their ideas as though they were simply normative, rather than the hateful aberrations they’ve been widely considered to be over the past half-century.
It’s one thing to have hate-filled folks like Evangelical Social Conservatives trying to force their will and their ideology upon the majority of us willing to live and let live, but the National Socialist Movement Northwest takes intolerance, ignorance, and hatred to a new and despicable level. Using religion and Conservative ideology to reshape the world may be acceptable to some, but preaching race war and pure, racially-based hatred should be acceptable to none of us.
Only when we recognize and refuse to condone behavior that strives to spread hate will we gain the upper hand. Yes, free speech can be and sometimes is highly ignorant and offensive speech. That’s the price we pay for living in a free society. That doesn’t mean, though, that we have to sit back and allow the pencil dicks to preach their poison unopposed. David Neiwert isn’t, and he deserves our wholehearted support.
