In which we debate the need for "continued sacrifice" in the Long War Against Brown People

Minutemen resume border watch: New campaign in Arizona meant to call attention to what group sees as insecure borders

THREE POINTS, ARIZ. - Minuteman volunteers concerned about the continued flow of illegal immigrants across the border from Mexico gathered Saturday with lawn chairs, binoculars and cell phones for a new monthlong campaign aimed at raising public awareness of the issue.

Interesting, isn’t it? I find it fascinating that so many good, God-fearing White Folk are willing to give up their free time to patrol our border with Mexico. What no one seems to admit to themselves is that while they are busy keeping the Fatherland Homeland safe from marauding Brown People, the longest undefended border in the world separates the US and Canada. One can merely walk across the US-Canada border almost anywhere…no muss, no fuss, no dying of thirst and heat stroke in the Arizona desert.

If you were a terrorist, which would you rather do- sneak across the US-Mexico border with it’s brutal, dry, killing heat or saunter across the US-Canada border in relative comfort and with surprising ease? Would that this latest Minuteman effort were actually about helping to prevent terrorism. No, this, as with previous Minuteman campaigns, is all about keeping out Brown People- dirty, uneducated Hispanics who don’t look like us, don’t talk like us, and take jobs from Americans.

If the Minutemen and groups like them are so all-fired-up about preventing terrorism, why aren’t they patrolling the border that actually presents an inviting entry point to terrorists? No, in the final analysis, this has NOTHING to do with preventing terrorism. It has everything to do with keeping out the Brown People who so egregiously threaten our economic well-being and Our Way of Life. Yeah, right….

“I’m concerned about what’s not being done by the government ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ hasn’t been done for ages, apparently,” said J. Glenn Sorensen, a retired school administrator now living in Flagstaff.

Sorensen, who was not involved with the Minutemen last year, said he thinks the organization has accomplished part of its intended purpose to draw attention to what they call insecure borders.

“I don’t think anybody wants to close the border,” Sorenson said.

No, of course not. We just want to keep out those dirty Brown People who think they can sneak in and pick our fruite and vegetables, pick up our garbage, tend our gardens, build our houses and roads and not have the common decency to live in the shadows like good second-class citizens.

What these self-professed “patriots” are conveniently ignoring is the reality that illegal aliens sneak into this country for the economic opportunities they cannot find at home. They’re willing to do the jobs Americans won’t touch, because they will still be significantly better off than they would be in their home country. We benefit from paying lower costs for goods and services (though we would NEVER admit to exploting people because of their immigration status) and the Brown People get to make a living they could never enjoy back home.

And yet so many Americans are willing to demonize those they depend on for menial labor. Hypocritical? What do you think??

At a rally kicking off the effort at a remote southern Arizona ranch Saturday afternoon, politicians and activists opposing illegal immigration gave fiery speeches calling for more border control.

At least 200 mostly older men and women heard more than a half-dozen speakers praise their efforts and call the Minutemen heroes.

“Heroes”? If defending racism and ignoring the economic reality that they have helped to create makes them heroes, I think I’d rather be a coward.

Espousing pure, unadulterated ignorance in defense of a political viewpoint is hardly a virtue, particularly when the position you so fiercely defend flies in the face of reality.

Who do you think takes care of the menial, dirty, difficult chores for you? Have you looked around lately? A person’s immigration status should not deny him the right to be in this country if you are willing to exploit his labor for your own selfish ends. If these people could get past their own selfishness and self-interest, they might just see the hypocrisy they are advocating. Yeah…like THAT’s going to happen….

Come back and talk to me when the Minutemen and their ilk are devoting the same attention to the US-Canada border that they are to the US-Mexico border. Then perhaps I might begin to believe that these trolls are serious about protecting the Homeland from terrorism. Until then, they’re nothing but bigots intent on keeping out those whose labor they depend on.

Seldom will you see hypocrisy in full flower with such fervor, conviction, and complete absence of a grip on reality.
