It wouldn't hurt if it weren't true

I AM NOT AFRAID OF YOU

Michelle Malkin

You know who you all are.

And if you think I’m going to stop blogging/writing/making a living because you’ve plastered my family’s private home address, phone numbers, and photos and maps of my neighborhood all over the Internet to further your manufactured outrage and pathetic coddling of a bunch of lying, anti-troops punks at UC Santa Cruz…

…you better think again.

I seem to have hit something of a nerve yesterday when I posted a link to a site that has posted contact information for Michelle Malkin. I find it very interesting, and more that a wee bit hypocritical, that the folks doing the whining and caterwauling didn’t have a word to say about Malkin doing the same thing to UC-Santa Cruz students and administrators, some of whom have been receiving death threats. Malking fired the first shot in this skirmish, and if she thinks that she’s going to be able to portray herself as some sort of “martyr”, she got another thing coming. Hypocrisy… a typical Right-wing strategy, eh?

I’m not proud of linking to Malkin’s personal information, but neither am I ashamed of it. Consider this a case of using Malkin’s weapon of choice against her. And, for those of you upset with me, let’s keep in mind that I did ask people to play nice with the information if they felt the need to put it to use. There is no reason those of us on the Left should stoop to the same knuckle-dragging tactics that Malkin seems to think is fair game.

If Malkin is going to play dirty, she cannot claim to be surprised or angry when that same mud is flung back at her. In the past 24 hours, I’ve seen several sites with her personal contact information, and even a Google Map of her neighborhood. I’m not going to link to any of them, because I’ve made my point, and besides, most of you could find the same information I did within five minutes. It’s not rocket science, and it’s readily available and easily accessible online.

There is nothing wrong with a healthy difference of opinion. Indeed, it’s what makes this country the healthy democracy it is. Nonetheless, there are rules that need to be respected…and one of the most important rules is to preserve and not endanger the safety and well-being of your adversary. When you create an atmosphere that result in your adversaries receiving numerous death threats, you’ve crossed the line. This is what Michelle Malkin did, and no matter how justified she feels in her actions, it’s just plain wrong. Turning the tables on her is simply a way to drive this message home in likely the only way she’ll understand.

Respect is a two-way street, and those of you would got on my case for linking to Malkin’s personal information should keep that in mind. I will take you seriously when you also condemn Malkin’s tactics? If you’re not willing to do that, then shut the hell up. I have no use, and even less time, for you. Go peddle your slanted filth somewhere else.
