Ah, the circularity of life. Here we are, back once again in late April. The snow is melting, the cherry blossoms are in bloom, and rugged men with scruffy beards are battling for Lord Stanley’s cup. Life is good, no?
I won’t be going to tonight’s Tampa Bay- Ottawa playoff game (the “cheap” seats were sold out, and I didn’t want to pay $70 for a ticket), but I do have tickets to Thursday night’s game. To say that I’m excited would be something of an understatement. I haven’t been to an NHL since I made a pilgrimage to Dallas two years ago to catch a Stars-Blues game, and I haven’t been to an NHL playoff game since I was in college in 1981.
I have to admit that I find it curious to be looking forward to going to a hockey game in Florida of all places. Somehow, I have a difficult time wrapping my head around the concept of hockey being played in a place where palm trees rule and where it snows about as often as Hell freezes over. Still, it IS NHL hockey, and the Lightning are the defending Stanley Cup champions. Yeah, I can hardly wait….
Game on, eh?
