One more person, and we have a movement

Letter to: Tenn Rep Debra Maggart

In response to my latest DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener, TN State Rep. Debra Maggart (R-Pleasantville)…well, OK, may not because of it…Bill Ware emailed the intrepid Rep. Maggart to give her a piece of his mind. (And you can too…click here to email Ms. Maggart).

Ware’s email is a very well-written, well-considered response to one of the most egregious examples of official homophobia I’ve seen in quite some time. It’s not easy being that ignorant and hateful, though Rep. Maggart certainly makes it look effortless.

Perhaps if more people expressed their dismay and outrage when elected officials like Maggart reveal themselves to be hate-filled DUMB@$$E$ there would be less of this sort of thing happening. Politicians will normally do only what they know will not imperil their political future, so if we call them on their ignorance, bigotry, and hatred, perhaps they’ll finally figure out that hatred really isn’t a family value. And perhaps they’ll stop using Jesus as an excuse for being a narrow-minded, bigoted @$$hole…nah, that’s not likely to happen, is it?
