Proof that Republicans don't have a monopoly on nutjobs

I believe that a person should not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character- and you seem batshit insane.

Yesterday morning, I watched CNN’s Soledad O’Brien attempt to interview Cynthia McKinney, and then I watched McKinney obfuscate, exaggerate, and just generally attempt to demagogue her way out of answering anything more controversial than “How ‘bout them Braves?” She had no problem with throwing accusations of racism around like they were Mardi Gras beads - as if that would exonerate her and excuse her pitiable, reprehensible behavior. It was a pitiful display of political spin hardly befitting an elected public servant. When you show up to an interview with an attorney in tow, and then allow that attorney to do most of the speaking, something is very wrong. Could it be that Rep. McKinney KNOW she’s screwed unless she can spin public opinion in her favor?

Let me begin by stating for the record that Cynthia McKinney is a @($)+&# idiot. Yes, she’s a Democrat, but when your electability rests on your defining yourself as a black woman, what do you really have to offer? McKinney is a blowhard, a demagogue, AND a world-class ignoramus. Talk about hitting the trifecta….

Also on the interview was the Chief of the Capitol Police, who seemed to be the only one capable of providing a straight answer to O’Brien’s simple question: “So, what happened?” To him, it was a simple scenario: Rep. McKinney struck a police officer. Members of Congress may be allowed to skirt the magnetometers in the Capitol, but police officers are still required to ascertain, and in some cases verify a member’s identity. Members are supposed to be wearing a pin that identifies them as a member of Congress, which McKinney was NOT at the time of the incident.

The Chief stated that the officer in question told him that he did not recognize McKinney, so as she walked around the magnetometer, he grabbed her arm in an effort to do his job and ascertain her identity. McKinney then turned and struck him in the chest with a hand that was holding a cell phone. Sounds simple enough, and it certainly seems a credible explanation for what took place. Of course, the officer is not allowed to speak for himself, and the Chief is not going to be given nearly as many opportunities as McKinney to speak out on the matter. While McKinney has been in front of virtually every camera known to mankind (with one or two attorneys in tow), the officer’s side of the story is getting scant play.

As you might imagine, McKinney’s side of this story is somewhat different and decidedly more self-serving. To her, it was a case of the officer touching her inappropriately and harrassing her because she’s a black woman. In her mind, the officer clearly failed to recognize her because of her new hairstyle, and he is in the wrong for harrassing her for being black. This is just about the silliest, most inept argument imaginable. First of all, McKinney’s new hairstyle. atrocious though it may be, has NOTHING to do with anything relevant to this incident. Second, there are 535 members of Congress all told. Could it be remotely conceivable that the officer simply doesn’t know all 535 members by sight? Or might he simply not have been certain and, being the highly-trained policeman he likely is, decided to err on the side of caution.

Members of Congress such as McKinney expect the Capitol Police to provide for their security. Doing this job means occasionally stopping a Congressman and asking for identification- particularly if that Congressman isn’t wearing their ID pin, which McKinney was not at the time of the incident.

Given McKinney’s reticence and furious spin doctoring when faced with a direct question, one might reasonably conclude that she knows she screwed up and she has something to hide. If she did nothing wrong, then why aren’t we hearing a direct answer when she is asked what happened? Why the lawyers and the spin-doctoring and the posturing? Why the allegations of racism with absolutely no evidence to back it up? Why? Because McKinney has nothing, and she knows it.

Cynthia McKinney is one of the worst examples of bombastic, do-nothing Democrats in Congress, and she’s one of the big reasons “Democrat” is a dirty word for so many. When you have nothing more constructve to offer than playing the race card when the going gets rough, you’re little more than an empty suit and a waste of a perfectly good Congressional seat. Yes, McKinney’s a Democrat, one of “ours” if you will. From where I sit, though, I hope McKinney get indicted and convicted. It’s about time someone took her down a peg or six. What a @($)+&# DUMB@$$.
