Poll Gives Bush Worst Marks Yet on Major Issues
And the bad polls just keep on coming
Americans have a bleaker view of the country’s direction than at any time in more than two decades, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. Sharp disapproval of President Bush’s handling of gasoline prices has combined with intensified unhappiness about Iraq to create a grim political environment for the White House and Congressional Republicans.
It’s only taken five years and two election cycles, but it appears that the American sheeple, tolerant of ineptitude and demagoguery as the are (as long as we’re talking about Republicans), can’t ignore the criminal behavior of the thug they put in the White House. It’s about damn time, but the problem is that we’re stuck with him for another almost three full years. The moral of this story? Well, it’s rather simple, really: You may be able to steal an election, but that doesn’t mean you can run a country.
The truly sad thing is that, by taking so long to recognize that the leader of God’s Own Party is a lying, incompetent tool, the American sheeple have been complicit in sending 2,500 (and counting) young Americans to their death in Our Glorious Leader’s immoral war in Iraq. Yes, we’re fighting terrorism, but the threat present in Iraq today was one that Administration policy created out of whole cloth. In effect, Our Glorious Leader has given birth to the very terrorist threat he has pledged to vigorously fight.
Congratulations, America; your willingness to swallow the propaganda and vote Republican with so much as a critical thought is the single biggest reason we find ourselves in the mess we’re in. When you begin whining about Our Glorious Leader, let’s not forget who put him into office twice, hmm???
