Ignorance, hatred, and resentment are not components of a reasonable political philosophy

Nick Berg’s Father Weeps for Zarqawi

Iif you want a reason to bemoan the sad reality that is the current state of public political discourse, you need look no farther than the foaming-at-the-mouth trolls at Little Green Footballs, whose denizens seem to feed off the flames of anger, hatred, and resentment. Nick Berg’s father chooses not to react to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s (he beheaded Nick Berg) death with the hatred and vitriol that the citizens of LGF-world expect, so he gets vilified by the trolls. These people are angry because, to their ignorant, hate-fueled way of thinking, Berg reacted to the death of the man who murdered his son with insufficient venom? Could it simply be that Berg has chosen not to let anger, hate, and the desire for revenge consume him? Can the man not be allowed to grieve and deal with the death of his son in a manner that he finds most appropriate? How dare these trolls assume that they and only they are the ones to determine that appropriate manner in which a man grieves the brutal, public death of his son?

There’s a special place in Hell for maroons like this….
