Man, I had NO idea we were responsible...I feel HORRIBLE (not)

Who’s Really Screwing America

[Bernard] Goldberg, who is dedicated to the proposition that it is liberals who dominate America and are responsible for most of its ills, included, by my count, eighty-one liberals, seven marginal conservatives and twelve indeterminate others in his book. But not, just for example, a single member of the Bush Administration. Not one Republican member of Congress. No one responsible for the Iraq disaster, for the pre-9/11 “intelligence failures,” for illegal spying on Americans, for sanctioning secret detention and torture, for trying to subvert the Constitution by giving the President unlimited, quasi-dictatorial powers, for corrupting Congress, for gutting our environmental laws and giving free rein and fat subsidies to polluters, drillers, strip-miners and other land-rapers, for suppressing scientific information about global warming or for seeking to replace science education with religious claptrap. You see, it’s actually Phil Donahue, Tim Robbins and Barbra Streisand who are screwing up America. People like that.

OK, I’ll fess up; after all the first step to fixing a problem is admiitting that you HAVE one, right? All this time, I’d been blaming the Republicans in power for the corruption, the wasteful, senseless, never-ending war in Iraq, the deficit, the plummeting esteem for America among the international community, etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Here I’d been thinking that they were in power, they had control…ergo, they MUST be responsible, no? It seemed a logical connection to be making. I had NO idea how horribly wrong I’ve apparently been all along. Yessirree…if it weren’t for the g—d—n Libruls, we’d surely be one big Shining City on the Hill.

Yep, we’re just a buncha flag-burnin’, gay-lovin’, Bush-bashin’ nattering nabobs of pernicious negativity. Rather than supporting the dream of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader to make America that great Shining City on the Hill it can and should be, we Liberals are nagging about things like accountability, honesty, and openness, all things that (had we only known….) sow dissension, doubt, and fear among the American sheeple.

Man, I feel HORRIBLE for ignoring my responsibility to unquestioningly support the agenda of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader. After all, everyone knows that loose lips sink ships. Ask too many questions, and you just might find yourself on someone’s enemies list. Mea culpa…I feel TERRIBLE….

Can I have my brown shirt now???
