And for dessert...cheesecake, anyone??

Maybe They Should’ve Done This Before The Free Agency Period Started

The Boston Celtics have finally gotten around to putting together their first-ever dance team. Apparently, they’re just going to call them the “Celtics Dancers,” which is unfortunate. I was holding out hope for something like “The Paul Pierce Pleasure Crew,” or “The Girls of Scalabrine’s Weenie.” But, in the tradition of the Celtics, they’re playing this one conservatively.

Well, it’s not as if they Boston Celtic have been much to watch over the last few years…so why not a little something to take your mind off the mediocre product they’ve been putting on the court and charging NBA prices for? When organizations charge ridiculous ticket prices in order to support the outsized salaries of spoiled, pampered professional athletes, teams- especially mediocre ones- are having to take steps to put butts in the seats that they may have previously resisted. Besides, from what I hear, sex sells. Who knew??

Stay tuned, because before long mediocre teams- and the Celtics could charitably be included in this group- may start pushing the envelope. How about stripper poles during time-outs? Shower dances during half-time shows? Lap dances and “private performances” for the high rollers in the front-row seats? Yes, the possibilities for enhancing revenues are endless.

Hey, if you’re not going to be a championship-caliber team, why not some bread and circuses…or, in this case, cheesecake??
