Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Energy Secretary in Baghdad: ‘Far More Stable’ Than In 2003, ‘People Are More Relaxed’

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #407: Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman

“The situation seems far more stable than when I was here two or three years ago,” [Bodman] said in an interview in the fortified Green Zone. “The security seems better, people are more relaxed. There is an optimism, at least among the people I talked to.”

So, how do you spell “CLUELESS”? Well, you might start by going to Iraq and staying within the relative safety and security of the Green Zone, where rarely is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day. Once you’ve done that, you can go ahead and issue broad abstract pronouncements about things you clearly know nothing about it. Come on down, Samuel Bodman; you’re our latest DUMB@$$!!

Jeebus, how thoroughly ignorant and phenomenally out of touch do you have to be in order to claim in all seriousness and with a straight that Iraq is a “far more stable” and “relaxed” place than it was in 2003? Well, if you never leave the safety of the Green Zone, I suppose you could be forgiven for thinking that Iraq is a virtual Paradise on Earth. And why would you ever want to leave the Green Zone? After all, behind the walls and barbed wire and checkpoints is a nasty, ugly, brutally dangerous world, devoid of basic services and reeking of danger and sudden, violent death. Inside the walls, it’s like Little America. OK, so every now and again someone lobs a mortar or some such ordnance into the Green Zone, but for all intents and purposes, the Green Zone is a little oasis of peace and security smack in the center of Hell. How’s that civil war working out for you?

So, just how bad ARE things in Paradise Iraq?

The same day of Bodman’s visit, a U.N. report showed that 3,149 civilians had died violently in Iraq last month. Baghdad’s central morgue alone received 1,595 bodies in June.

Yep, you know, honey…I’ll bet we could get a GREAT deal on a vacation in Baghdad. Maybe we could get some tips on what to see from Secretary Bodman. Or maybe from this guy:

Baghdad looks so exhausted these days and so do her people; the relentless violence, the lack of basic services and the scorching heat abolishes human desire to do anything or to even think of anything.

Yeah, but I’ll bet the golf is GREAT, eh? Perhaps Secretary Bodman can find time to play 18 holes with us. After all, it’s not as if the DUMB@$$ has anything resembling a functional grip on reality.

Being a Republican means never having to check your facts….
