Kerry knocks Bush on handling of Mideast conflict
U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D- Mass., who was in town Sunday to help Gov. Jennifer Granholm campaign for her re-election bid, took time to take a jab at the Bush administration for its lack of leadership in the Israeli-Lebanon conflict. “If I was president, this wouldn’t have happened,” said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John’s bar and grill in Detroit’s Cass Corridor.
John Kerry may well be right. I have no issue with him on that point. How much of the current clusterf—k in the Middle East can be laid at the feet of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader is a debate I’ll leave to more nimble intellects than my own. No, what I’m concerned about, and what I thoroughly detest is arrogance and an “I-told-you-so” attitude in politicians. For one thing, it makes Kerry look small and self-superior. He can lob bon mots while proposing nothing in the way of a solution. Yes, I think you can safely say that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has screwed the pooch on the subject of the Middle East, but for Sen. Kerry to contribute his “Nyah, nayh…told you so!” only makes him look small and does nothing to support the cause of Democrats- never mind the innocent civilians dying in Lebanon.
I detest politicians who lob rhetorical bombs at their adversay without proposing anything resembling a viable alternative. Perhaps Sen. Kerry is correct, perhaps the current situation in Lebanon wouldn’t have occurred on his watch. But what would he have done differently? What would he have done to keep this tragedy for taking place?
Don’t tell me that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has been asleep at the switch. That much should have long ago been evident to any lucent observer. Anyone can kibbitz, though. Tell us what you would do or would have done differently. Offer suggestions for how the current clusterf—k can be remediated. If all you’re going to do is throw in your “Nyah, nyah…told you so!”, I’d rather you just shut the Hell up and recede back into the obscurity you so richly deserve.
People are dying, and the best you can come up with is, “Well, this wouldn’t have happened on MY watch….”? Thanks for playing the feud, Senator DUMB@$$ Kerry. Now please go away until you have something constructive to add.
