Greetings from Hell....

OK, this isn’t quite Hell…but you can certainly see it- and feel it- from here. I realize that southeast Texas isn’t the only part of the country to be suffering from ungodly heat this summer, but it certainly feels that way. The high here yesterday was something like 99 degrees, and when you combine that with humidity in the 50%-60% range…well, let’s just say that I’m sick to death of the term “heat index”. I wake up hot, sticky, and crabby, and that’s pretty much how I spend my day…especially whenyou consider that my work often takes me outside for a good part of the day.

For those of you not blessed to live along the Gulf of Mexico and wondering what living here during July and August is like, try this simple experiment: Stick your head in a pizza oven. Or you could wrap yourself in Saran Wrap and step into a sauna. Either way, you’ll be guaranteed to be hot and extremely uncomfortable almost immediately. Welcome to the Texas Gulf Coast. This is where those of y’all north of the Mason-Dixon Line get to laugh at me. After all, I laugh at y’all every winter, and you can bet that I’ll be doing the same thing this winter, when I’m playing golf in Galveston. In December. In my shorts. Let’s see you do THAT in Wisconsin, eh??

My God, I think I’d give my left nut for a cold front….
