2 Lodi residents refused entry back into U.S.
The federal government has barred two relatives of a Lodi man convicted of supporting terrorists from returning to the country after a lengthy stay in Pakistan, placing the U.S. citizens in an extraordinary legal limbo….”We haven’t heard about this happening — U.S. citizens being refused the right to return from abroad without any charges or any basis,” said [Julia Harumi] Mass, a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union.
It would seem that we have now entered a new realm, a new state of officially-sanctioned repression, in which the federal government can now deny re-entry to the US to AMERICAN CITIZENS for seemingly any reason at all. In this case, simply being related to someone convicted of a terrorism-related offense is apparently reason enough to prevent any American citizen from returning home. Oh…and they’re of Pakistani descent. Ergo, they MUST be terrorists, eh?
Jeebus, when will you people learn that being swarthy (AND Pakistani…AND Muslim) means that you can be held for any reason whatsoever. Rights? If you were worried about your rights, you wouldn’t have been born Brown, would you?
Muhammad Ismail, a 45-year-old naturalized citizen born in Pakistan, and his 18-year-old son, Jaber Ismail, who was born in the United States, have not been charged with a crime.
Yeah, but all they have to do is to prove that they’re innocent and they’ll be free to go….
First they came for the Packers fan, and I said nothing, because I’m not a Packers fan. Then they came for the left-handed Gay Atheists….
