Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

And the Hits Just Keep On Comin’….

Beauprez apologizes for abortion comments

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #432: Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-CO)

Groups including Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and ACLU of Colorado released a statement saying, in part, “With his ignorance on the subject, Congressman Beauprez has provided yet another example why health care decisions should be made by a woman, in consultation with her doctor, her family and her conscience, not by the government or politicians.”

A couple of days ago, I wrote something that I’ve just discovered is quite accurate. I wrote that there are DUMB@$$E$, and then there are DUMB@$$E$. Well, guess what? There are also SCARY, DANGEROUS DUMB@$$E$…and few are scarier that Bob Beauprez, an American Taliban a Conservative Republican who is apparently channelling Tom DeLay and Pat Robertson as he runs for Governor of Colorado.

Beauprez, who seems intent on returning women to their “rightful place” as property of men and ceding control of their wombs to the state, is particularly dangerous. Not only is he an openly knuckle-dragging troglodyte, he makes “facts” up as he goes along. I realize that 47% of all statistics are made up on the spot, but shouldn’t we be holding those running for elected office to a higher standard? No reasonable person would expect a troll like Beauprez to be an expert on everything, but if you’re going to blithely toss numbers around to back up a (specious) argument, shouldn’t you at least know and understand the statistics you’re using for support?

The scary part of Beauprez is how thoroughy self-righteous he is, and how unwilling he is to allow women to have control over their own bodies. No, you little ladies just do what you do best- make babies- and let us menfolk worry about makin’ the tough decisions, OK?

Of course, when you’re Bob Beauprez, you don’t have to worry about things like uncertainty or doubt, because you KNOW that you know best. And ain’t no flag-burnin’, Godless Librul pussies gonna tell you any different.

DENVER (AP) - Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-Colorado) apologized Wednesday for misquoting a statistic about abortion rates among blacks during an interview with Colorado Public Radio.

Planned Parenthood and the Colorado American Civil Liberties Union criticized Beauprez’s comment that 70 percent of pregnancies among blacks end in abortion.

“I was wrong about the statistic I quoted in a recent interview with Colorado Public Radio and I apologize to the African American community and anyone else who was offended,” Beauprez said in a written statement released by his campaign. “I should have verified the statistic before repeating it.”

Well, sure, but there are few things more entertaining than a DUMB@$$ who’s willing to make up “facts” as he goes.

Beauprez made his comments in response to a question on Colorado Public Radio’s “Colorado Matters” this week.

Beauprez said that if Roe v. Wade were overturned, he would sign a law banning abortion, unless the mother’s life was in danger. He said he would not support abortion in cases of rape and said that such “extreme exceptions” have been used to justify “carte blanche” abortion policy that has led to more than 1 million abortions each year in the U.S.

And damnit, when will women learn that their wombs are the property of the state…and that only Evangelical Republicans possess the moral wherewithal (and the imprimatur of the Almighty) to determine a woman’s reproductive future. Clearly, something like this is far too important to leave to Liberals and other such trailer trash.

“Tragically, I think, in some of our ethnic communities we’re seeing very, very high percentages of babies, children, pregnancies end in abortion. And I think that it’s time we have an out-in-the-open discussion about what that means,” Beauprez said during the interview.

Interviewer Ryan Warner asked Beauprez which ethnic communities.

“I’ve seen numbers as high as 70 percent, maybe even more, in the African-American community that I think is just appalling. And I’m not saying it’s appalling on them. I’m saying it’s appalling that something’s happening to encourage that,” Beauprez said.

What’s appalling is that an ignoramus like Beauprez is willing to make up whatever statistics he needs to support his argument…and yet people will vote for him. Who’s the DUMB@$$ now?
