Chris Wallace Has Never Asked A Bush Administration Official About The USS Cole
CLINTON: OK, let’s talk about it. I will answer all of those things on the merits but I want to talk about the context of which this arises. I’m being asked this on the FOX network…ABC just had a right wing conservative on the Path to 9/11 falsely claim that it was based on the 9/11 Commission report with three things asserted against me that are directly contradicted by the 9/11 Commission report. I think it’s very interesting that all the conservative Republicans who now say that I didn’t do enough, claimed that I was obsessed with Bin Laden. All of President Bush’s neocons claimed that I was too obsessed with finding Bin Laden when they didn’t have a single meeting about Bin Laden for the nine months after I left office. All the right wingers who now say that I didn’t do enough said that I did too much. Same people.
It really isn’t all that difficult to expose a bully. All it generally takes is an intelligent person with the courage of their convictions and a backbone to match. Conservatives have demonized Bill Clinton and everything about him since 1992. So it hardly comes as a surprise that Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace effectively ambushed Clinton during his appearance on Fox News Sunday.
Clinton was initially told that his interview would focus on his Clinton Global Initiative, which is working to raise over $7 billion to combat the world’s major problems. Early on, though, Chris Wallace attempted to nail Clinton with the same sort of shameless Right-wing propaganda that ABC employed in its The Path to 9/11 “docusham”. Unfortunately for Wallace, he forgot who he was interviewing…and the former President made Wallace look like the ignorant, goose-stepping partisan hack he truly is.
I don’t understand what it is about Conservatives that allows them to think that Bill Clinton is some sort of clueless moron and spineless weenie. The man was a Rhodes Scholar, for Pete’s sake. This is not some intellectual lightweight who can’t defend himself against spurious accusations and outright lies. After eight years in the White House, I would suspect that Clinton is pretty well sick and tired of the crap, the lies, and the cheap attempts to blame all the nation’s problem on a President who hasn’t been in office for well over five years.
According to sources familiar with the negotiation, Chris Wallace reportedly used his slam of Path to 9/11 to lure Bill Clinton onto the show and promised to ask him only about the Clinton Global Initiative. Instead, the second question out of his mouth was “what my viewers want to know most is why you didn’t do more about terrorism and Osama Bin Laden.”
Clinton was evidently furious. All I can say is — what took you so long? It was nice to see Clinton come out swinging after the blogs blazed the trail over the ABC fraudumentary, and I’m tickled pink he’s decided to take a more agressive approach to keeping professional whitewashers of the GOP a bit more honest.
Wallace has carried GOP water before — by trying to claim that Bush had never linked Sadaam Hussein and 9/11, by letting Administraion shills peddle disinformation without question, and by being an all-around apologist for torture.
Fox News Channel and other Right-wing propaganda outlets will never admit to reality: Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader couldn’t hold Bill Clinton’s jock. The intense hatred that Conservatives hold for all things Clinton is at its most basic the knowledge that their guy can’t compete with Bill Clinton. Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader lacks the intelligence, the charisma, and the vision that made the Clinton years so successful. Yes, Bill Clinton is a flawed human being. I’m not about to make excuses for his moral lapses, but those hardly negate all the good things that his Administration did during eight years in office.
And yet Chris Wallace and other Conservative thugs are willing do whatever they and their masters deem necessary in order to discredit Bill Clinton. If it means staging the journalistic equivalent of an ambush, then so be it. Wallace and his Fox employers should be ashamed of themselves. These asshats planned all along to ambush Clinton; they just didn’t plan on him coming prepared to return fire…so now they’re passing off Clinton’s defense of himself as “Clinton gets crazed”. Man, these people really DON’T have any shame….
Of course, being Fox News Channel means never having to worry about untidy and inconvenient things…like the truth.
