Oh, right...I keep forgetting; Jesus is an Evangelical, Social Conservative Republican

Falwell says Hillary would spark base

WASHINGTON - The Rev. Jerry Falwell says a White House run by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton would energize his base of religious conservatives even more than if the devil were the Democratic nominee….I certainly hope that Hillary is the candidate,” Falwell told a private prayer breakfast. “Because nothing will energize my (constituency) like Hillary Clinton.

Silly me; I’d always been taught that ‘tis better to be thought a DUMB@$$ than to be former DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener Rev. Jerry Falwell. Man, just when I’d begun to think that perhaps Falwell had been out of the limelight because he wanted to tend to his flock and serve his version of God, he demonstrates just how naive I apparently am. I’m sorry, but if Jerry Falwell is a man of God, then I’m Roseanne Barr. Falwell may be many things: businessman, bigot, entrepreneur, zealot…but he embodies and models the teachings of Jesus Christ about as much as I do…and I’m a Buddhist.

Jerry Falwell is nothing if not enamored of his own righteousness and moral superiority. What gives him the right to feel superior to Hillary Clinton and to use her as the butt of his lame attempts at humor is beyond. As much as I hate name-calling, in Falwell’s case I will make an exception without feeling so much as a shred of guilt. Falwell is a fat, ignorant liar who willingly twists and bastardizing the Gospel to manipulate his following of ignorant, knuckle-dragging acolytes who (for reasons unexplainable) view themselves as the Chosen Ones. What an arrogant, ignorant, and intolerant collection of reactionary zealots. Falwell, who owns half of Lynchburg, VA, and has his own ieological indoctrination/re-education camp college- Liberty University- is adept at portraying himself as a benign servant of the Lord. In actual fact, he is just another Jimmy Swaggart-style hypocrite more concerned with empire-building, fear-mongering, and his own self-aggrandizement. It’s not about serving or worshipping the Lord; it’s about power and control…just as it is for every other despot and thug.

“If Lucifer ran, he wouldn’t,” Falwell added, drawing a roomful of laughs and cheers.

The remarks came during a 40-minute address Friday morning at the “Values Voter Summit,” sponsored by the country’s leading conservatives and featuring several Republicans who are considering running for president in 2008.

The Los Angeles Times, which reported Falwell’s comments in a story Sunday, said it obtained a tape recording of the talk and confirmed Falwell’s remarks with those who heard them.

An aide to Falwell said the remarks were off-the-cuff and not intended to demonize the Democratic senator from New York.

Of course not. A good Christian would NEVER even THINK about demonizing a Democrat who just happens to be a woman AND Aa US Senator. A good Christian would NEVER stoop to trying to convince women that their place is at home, barefoot and pregnant. And, yes, a good Christian would NEVER elevate men over women, nor would they EVER attempt to perpetuate the canard that women are second-class citizens and should defer to men, who are far more intelligent and better-equipped by God to deal with the harsh realities of life. (Women are just too flighty and emotional, don’tcha know?)

Attendees also were assured during the prayer breakfast that God would preserve a Republican majority in Congress.

Right; because the Almighty is, after all, an ardent and committed Republican…and ANY good Christian knows that Democrats are, to a man, acolytes of the Prince of Darkness. Jeebus, what a f——-g maroon….
