Reason #437 why it's really NOT a good thing that we rule the world

Protestors hang Bin Laden effigy outside Culver City mosque

In an absolutely stunning move of sensitivity and enlightenment, activist against radical Islam hang an effigy of Osama across the street from the first mosque to condemn the terrorist attacks

UAC Hanging of bin Laden Event on Sunday 911 Eve Was A Great Success

CULVER CITY, Calif. - Activists hanged an effigy of Osama Bin Laden across the street from a Southern California mosque Sunday to protest radical Islam on the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. With a crowd of about 100 people shouting “Remember 9-11”” and “No more Jihad!” two men on the back of a pickup truck slipped a noose around the neck of a dummy wearing a Bin Laden mask and strung it up, while the crowd pelted the effigy with shoes. The protest was organized by the United American Committee, a group that says it promotes awareness of internal threats facing America.

Jeebus, how stupid and xenophobic do you have to be in order to pull off a stunt like this? You stage a protest in front of THE FIRST AMERICAN MOSQUE TO CONDEMN THE 9.11 ATTACKS…and you pat yourselves on the back, as if you’ve actually accomplished something useful and meaningful?

I think you knuckle-dragging troglodytes have it all wrong. UAC doesn’t stand for “United American Committee”. It stands for “UGLY American Committee”. What else could you reasonably call a collection of Right-wing zealots determined to show that AmeriKKKa is for White Christians only? They might wrap their hatred in flowery phrases and patriotic rhetoric, but it’s still hatred, and these ignoramuses are just the sort of brain-dead, hatred-fueled zealots that give this country a bad name.

‘Tis better to be thought a fool than to join the United American Committee and prove to the world that you’re nothing but a hate-filled, race-baiting, intellectually-challenged zealot. Yes, these troglodytes may be excersing their Constitutionally-guaranteed free speech rights, but I’m going to exercise mine by accusing UAC of engagin in exactly the same sort of anti-American behavior they were “protesting”. Hmm…proyecto mucho?

About 70 counter-protesters described the King Fahd Mosque as a peaceful center for area Muslims and yelled “racists go home!” during the ritual. A group of clergy joined hands with some of the mosque’s worshippers and stood in a circle in front of the mosque.

“I think it’s crazy,” said mosque spokesman Usman Madha. “We have never encouraged extremism. We were the first mosque that condemned the Sept.11 atrocities and we kicked out a few people that protested that condemnation.”

The United American Committee claimed the mosque supports radical Islam. A report from the Sept. 11 commission said investigators believed two of the hijackers had visited the mosque after arriving in the United States in 2000.

And what if they had? That simple reality can hardly be taken as an endorsement of terrorism. If Mohammed Atta had purchased a Slurpee at a 7-11 in Boca Raton, does that mean the proprietor supports terrorism and radical Islam? Can we please get a grip here? Is not the fact the King Fahd Mosque was the FIRST American mosque to condemn the 9.11 attacks enough to convict the UAC troglodytes that this is not a hotbed of anti-American Islamofascism? Apparently not, because what these maroons protest otherwise?

Neither Islam nor those who practice it are the problem. The problem is a relatively small minority of garden-variety murderers who use their twisted, hate-addled version of Islam to justify their ignorance, xenophobia, and blood lust. This is not Islam we’re talking about here, because good and decent Muslims the world over have denounced radical Islamofascism as a bastardization of the religion they love. REAL Muslims don’t kill and blow things up in the name of God. If the UAC idjits can’t recognize that simple reality…well, that would make them even more intellectually-challenged than I’d feared.

It’s just too bad that there are still White Christian zealots in this country willing to give their hatred and ignorance free reign. They won’t admit to this, of course, but the UAC knuckle-draggers are guilty of the same sort of intolerant zealotry they purport to condemn. Of course, it’s not fascism when White Folks do it, eh?
