So...the war against cholesterol might not be winnable?

Poll: Signs of doubt cloud the war on terror

WASHINGTON — Doubts about the war on terrorism are growing. Most people worry that the cost in blood and money may be too high, and they don’t think al-Qaida kingpin Osama bin Laden will ever be caught, an AP-Ipsos poll found. Five years after the attacks of Sept. 11, fully one-third of Americans think the terrorists may be winning, the poll suggests. Worries fed by the war in Iraq have spilled over into the broader campaign against terrorists who directly target the U.S. Half in the poll question whether the costs of the anti-terror campaign are too great, and even more admit that thought has crossed their mind.

Five years after 9.11, the American sheeple seem to finally be waking up to the reality that a war against a concept or an inanimate object is a difficult thing to fight, much less win.

This “war against terrorism” has cost us a LOT…and those of us who’ve questioned the cost and the strategy almost since Day One are fighting off the temptation to say “I told you so”…even though we did. And if you use the “Better to fight them in the streets of Baghdad that in the streets of Skokie”…well, don’t make me come over to your house and kick your ass, ‘kay??

So, just how much has all of this madness cost us?

More than 2,600 U.S. troops dead in Iraq, more than 270 dead in Afghanistan and roughly 20,000 wounded in both countries. More than $430 billion for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and other costs overseas, and more than $250 billion for domestic security.

It’s one thing to fight a war against terrorism…as long as you’re fighting the enemy you actually think you are. Let’s be honest here, shall we? There was no terrorist threat in Iraq prior to our invasion. Yes, we in fact created the enemy Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader is now so thoroughly devoted to fighting. In the meantime, we are moving ever closer to the time when boarding an airplane will require a strip search and a prostate exam. THIS is how we fight terrorism? THIS is how we allow our government to subject us to ever greater indignities in the name of safety and security?

Repeat after me: BAAA….BAAA…. Hey, if we’re going to act like sheep….

Good God, y’all…have we lost our freakin’ minds? Are we so willing to give up ever more of our personal liberties so that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader and his henchmen can keep us in a state of perpetual abject fear? Apparently so…and we have only ourselves to blame.

STILL GLAD YOU VOTED REPUBLICAN??
