Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Gingrich: House Leadership Would Have Been Accused Of ‘Gay Bashing’ If They Investigated Foley ‘Overly Aggressively’

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #450: Newt Gingrich

[O]n Fox News Sunday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich excused the House leadership for their apparent cover-up of Mark Foley’s predatory behavior. Gingrich said the emails seen by House leadership were “relatively innocuous, there was nothing sexual in those notes.”

I’ve been truly astounded how quickly Congressional Republicans and their apologists have leapt into action. These propagandists have gone from absolute zero to warp speed in he vrtual blink of an eye. From talk shows to new shows, Republicans have seized every opportunity, leapt in front of every available television camera, collared every print journalist with a pulse…all in an effort to convince the American sheeple that Republican Congressional leaders would have acted against Mark Foley…IF ONLY THEY’D KNOWN. Never mind the fact that Republican leaders like Dennis Hastert, John Shimkus, John Boehner, and Thomas Reynolds knew about Foley’s special perversion LAST FALL.

And what was their likely first thought? Hmm…how about: “How can we massage this so it doesn’t come to light until AFTER next year’s mid-term elections?”

Of course, one will rarely find a scandal or a crisis that Newt Gingrich won’t offer to expound upon, and this creepy scenario is no different. Being a former Speaker of the House, one would expect that Gingrich would stand up for his party and it’s current crop of self-interested, corrupt leaders…and he certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Well, you could have second thoughts about it, but I think had they overly aggressively reacted to the initial round, they would have also been accused of gay bashing.

Uh…say what? Taking appropriate action against a Congressman sexually soliciting underage Congressional pages is “gay bashing”? Have we really lost what little grip we may have previously had on reality? Or is Gingrich really willing to stoop to using any rhetorical device to twist reality into something more reliably pro-Republican? If you really need an answer to that question, you haven’t been paying attention for the past five-plus years.

How can protecting children from a sexual preator even remotely be construed as “gay bashing”? No self-respecting member of the gay community would ever think of defending preying on children, and yet Gingrich sees nothing inappropriate with using the specter of “gay bashing” as a rationale for excusing the leadership’s inaction and enabling Foley’s inappropriate and immoral behavior? Jeebus…ain’t it amazing that someone so intelligent and erudite can be such a f——-g DUMB@$$??
