Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Dobson Calls Foleygate A Joke

Echoing Drudge and Savage, Dobson and Henninger claimed Foley scandal is “sort of a joke” and a “prank[ ]” by pages

DUMB@$$ AWARD wieners #455: James Dobson & Daniel Henninger

Commenting on the congressional page scandal surrounding former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) on the October 6 broadcast of Focus on the Family, James Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, declared that the Foley affair has “turned out to be what some people are now saying was a — sort of a joke by the boy and some of the other pages” who had reportedly come forward with sexually explicit instant messages that Foley allegedly sent. Similarly, in his October 6 column, Wall Street Journal deputy editorial page editor Daniel Henninger wrote that “a rumor emerged that in fact Mark Foley had been pranked by the House pages” and then added: “It is the first plausible thing I’ve heard in seven days.”

Most decent and rational people would probably agree that the behavior of former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) is both indefensible and morally repugnant. There is nothing that could be used to justify a middle-aged man attempting to engage in sexual banter and/or set up sexual liaisons with underage boys…and yet giving Foley a free pass appears to be exactly what our two latest DUMB@$$E$ are trying to do.

You can bet the mortgage that if Foley were a Democrat, both Dobson and Henninger would be engaging in paroxysms of hellfire and-and-brimstone condemnation, decrying the godless immorality of it all. Of course, Foley is a Republican, which means he gets a free pass. Boys will be boys, don’tchaknow??

Is there ANYTHING more transparently hypocritical than these two DUMB@$$E$ attempting to soft-pedal behavior that, if it had been committed by a Democrat, would see them loudly demanding Foley’s head on a pike? And don’t tell me that Dobson and Henninger wouldn’t be doing this or worse. Both of these trolls have previously demonstrated the enduring and surpassing beauty of double standards. Behavior they would never even consider condoning if committed by a Democrat is perfectly excusable if committed by a Republican…after all, he’s one of us, eh?

So who says that hypocrisy and selective morality aren’t Conservative Republican values?
