MADISON, Wis. - Sex! The Green Bay Packers! Sex WITH the Green Bay Packers! The usually ho-hum race for Wisconsin secretary of state is being spiced up by one candidate’s naughty tell-all book about her bed-hopping exploits with Green Bay football legends during the team’s glory days under Vince Lombardi in the 1960s. Sandy Sullivan, a 65-year-old Republican with no political experience, self-published a gushing memoir in 2004 titled “Green Bay Love Stories and Other Affairs” in which she claims she was the girlfriend of Green Bay Packers Paul Hornung and Dan Currie, deflected a pass from Hall of Famer Don Hutson and was on the receiving end of a saucy comment from Richard Nixon.
Given the Mark Foley scandal, you’d think that a Republican candidate- ANY Republican candidate- would be steering clearing of anything even tangentially related to sex. Not our latest DUMB@$$, Sandy Sullivan, who is using her story of boinking a few Green Pay Packers heroes as a means to prop up her apparently flagging poll numbers.
Most Wisconsin voters see Sullivan’s tell-all confessional as something of a non-event, which is probably as it should be. After all, her books is really about two things- sex and the ’60s. Gee, now there’s a first, eh? People had sex in the ’60s? Hell, yeah…and apparently quite a lot of it. Who knew??
Of course, if there’s one thing that’s revered in Wisconsin above all else, it’s the Green Bay Packers. Throw in sex, and you’ve got something that will keep people talking for quite some time. Strangely enough, though, no one seems to be talking about what Sullivan has to offer as a political candidate…and perhaps that was the whole point of this charade.
