CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Calls Out Lynne Cheney For ‘Sniping At My Patriotism’
On Friday, Lynne Cheney repeatedly attacked CNN for having a liberal bias during a combative appearance on the Situation Room. At one point, she criticized CNN for “running terrorist tapes, terrorists shooting Americans” and asked Wolf Blitzer, “Do you want us to win?” She also repeatedly asked Blitzer to end his line of questioning and focus on her new children‚Äôs book. Today on CNN‚Äôs Late Edition, Blitzer said he was “surprised” at Cheney‚Äôs “sniping at my patriotism,” and pointed out that CNN had specifically labeled the tape of a U.S. soldier under fire as terrorist “propaganda.” He also said that CNN had made clear to Cheney‚Äôs staff “only hours before the interview” that she would be asked questions about politics during her appearance, not just about her children‚Äôs book.

You know, if there is anything more objectionable and hypocritical that Right-wing Evangelical Christians pretending that they have the blessing of the Almighty to force their narrow, fear-based agenda on all Americans, it’s the wife of one of a GOP troll doing the same thing. Lynne Cheney is no one’s fool. She has carved an impressive career out for herself independent of her husband, who just happens to be Vice President. Why, then, does someone so obviously intelligent and accomplished feel the need to stoop to the level of “loose lips sink ships”? Can she not come up with an intelligent argument? Or is she just too damn lazy to engage in a reasoned and informed debate? It’s so much easier to resort to name-calling and questioning your opponent’s patriotism.
I understand that Cheney is a Conservative Republican. It’s a free country; she has the right to believe as she sees fit. What she does NOT have the right to do is to trot out the same tired insults that Republicans have been employing since 9.11. Dissent does NOT equal America-hating and support for the terrorists. Being a Liberal is NOT the moral equivalent of being a pedophile. And before you begin hyping your moral and ethical superiority, let me just offer a few things for your consideration:
Tom DeLay. Randy Cunningham. Jack Abramoff. Mark Foley. Bob Ney. Conrad Burns. George Allen. I’d keep going, but I think I’ve made my point.
Memo to Lynne Cheney: before you begin questioning someone’s patriotism and touting your own moral superiority, how about getting your own house in order. If you live in a glass house, you’re going to want to be careful when it comes to lobbing stones around. Unless you’re a mena-spirited DUMB@$$ who doesn’t give a damn about reality, the truth, or simple civility.
And here’s another thing: when your stock in trade is rhetorical bomb-throwing, you do NOT get to demand that be asked softball questions during an interview. If you’re going to play hardball, you can’t claim surprise when the opposing pitcher plays some chin music.
Grow up or shut up….

Lynn Cheney has a long history as a right wing fanatic. She comes across as this meek little housewife, dutifully supporting her husband. Commenters are criticized for throwing the word "fascist" out in a forum like this, but what other term could better apply? She actually suggested that Wolf, and thus the rest of us, ought to be very careful about declaring that someone has "clean hands". Uh, Lynn - it's called "the presumption of innocence" and it is a bedrock principle of our legal system.
Bitch.
