Those of you who have hung ‘round TPRS for any length of time have by now no doubt noticed that baby’s got a brand-new look. It’s nothing radically different (after all, if it ain’t broke….), but different enough to be noticeable. I don’t know about all y’all, but I. LOVE. IT. The TPRS homepage is clean, uncluttered, and the readability (which was never bad in the previous iteration) is much improved. Not only that, the page loads much faster. Neat, huh??
I can’t begin to take credit for the upgrade, of course. That would belong to my de facto IT department, which has been outsourced to TPRS’ Canadian subsidiary, headed by James Bow in Toronto. Since James has volunteered his time and effort over the years, no labor laws are being broken, and no one can claim that I’m trying to exploit cheap labor. Hell, it’s done get any cheaper than FREE, does it?? EXPLOIT THAT, EH?
To say that I’m grateful to James for his efforts on my behalf wouldn’t begin to express how deeply appreciative of and indebted to him I am. Way back when, I asked him a technical question, and his response was “How ‘bout if I just handle the technical part of the TPRS world-wide empire for you?” Given that my expertise and passion is for writing and NOT anything techie, the answer was a no-brainer, and the rest is history. If not for James Bow, TPRS would probably be stuck on Blogspot with some generic, lame-ass template…and about 3 people would be reading it. I may not have anything interesting or relevant to say, but at least I can be irrelevant, pointless, and boring on a good-looking website, eh?
Perhaps someday, I’ll figure out how to attract a large enough readership to make a living off TPRS (Man, who do you have to sleep with to attract some attention around here??). Perhaps then I can finally repay James for everything he’s done. Until then, I’ll express my gratitude as best I can here until I lose my amateur status.
