35 years late and 3,000 dead American soldiers short

In Vietnam, Bush reaffirms Iraq cause

Bush urges patience on winning Iraq war

President Bush: Driving Iraq Towards A Wall Of Death

“We tend to want there to be instant success in the world, and the task in Iraq is going to take a while,” the president said. He called the Iraq war a “great struggle” and said, “It’s just going to take a long period of time for the ideology that is hopeful — and that is an ideology of freedom — to overcome an ideology of hate.”

I’m fairly certain that I’m not the only pundit to pick up on the odd and ironic symbolism behind Our Glorious and Beneveolent Leader shilling for his immoral and illegal war in Iraq in Vietnam. It might even be funny…until you factor in the thousands of brave Americans who’ve been killed, wounded, and mutilated in support of the horrific failure that is the war in Iraq. That Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has chosen to propagandize for this generation’s Vietnam in his generation’s Vietnam is both insulting and demonstrative of just how thoroughly ignorant and insensitive the man is.

“We’ll succeed unless we quit.” Hmm, that ranks right up there with “We’ll succeed…unless we don’t.” Though he professes to be open to “new ideas” when it comes to Iraq, Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has made it clear that those “new ideas” shouldn’t include:

  • fixed timetables for withdrawing American forces,
  • anything that could be interpreted by Conservatives as “cutting and running”,
  • any admission that the war in Iraq has NOTHING to do with the war against terrorism, or
  • any accusations or intimations that the war in Iraq was a preordained charade that involved using 9.11 as a pretext for removing Saddam Hussein.

The bottom line: nothing is going to change, though Our Glorious and Benevolent leader will publicly be all about “bipartisanship” and “working with Democrats”. This from a man who, prior to November 7th, equated a Democratic victory with defeat in Iraq. Then again, what this smirking fool defines as “victory” in Iraq is anyone’s guess. Apparently, by his way of thinking, if we throw enough Americans into the meatgrinder, we’ll emerge “victorious”.

No matter how many he and he neo-Conservative allies may protest, Iraq really is this generation’s Vietnam. It would be nice to think that someone with a degree from Yale would be able to learn the lessons of history. Sadly, 3000 American soldiers and their families and loved ones are paying the price for Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader’s aggressive, self-interested ignorance.

Americans continue to die for a policy that can really only be summed up as “We’ll succeed in Iraq…unless we don’t.” There seems to be no plan, no goal, and no grasp of the fact that young American lives are needlessly and pointlessly being sacrificed for…well, no one seems to be able to say, really. They go, they die…and we’re no closer to anything resembling a solution or a resolution.

NOW CAN WE IMPEACH THE LYING BASTARD?
